51 - Barbara Eden Falls in Love with a Hell's Angel (and, totally unrelated) A Shredding Tutorial

Dress - Lulu's ($36!), Vest - Vintage, Hat - Forever 21, Purse - Forever 21, Shoes - Jeffrey Campbell, Jewelry - Konstantino + Flea Market

So, I'm pretty sure that the people over at Lulu's are just the nicest, most amazing people that have ever existed. They sent me over what can only be described as a box of pure delight, so that I can share with y'all what cool stuff they've got in their shop.

The first thing I pulled out of the box was this dress. I think the box was glowing and making a "HAAAAAAAA" noise. After shrieking with delight, I started serenading the dress by singing Prince songs to it. I fell asleep with the dress draped over my face, my final pre-slumber words assuring it that I wanted to be near it always.

So, you know, I guess what I'm getting at here is that:

1. My addiction to hyperbole most likely necessitates professional intervention.
2. Pretty things please me in a way that postmodern theorists would deem essential to my continued existence but that people with real problems would deem perplexing at best.
3. I now own so much leopard print that even leopards are like, "Dang girl, you tacky like Fran Drescher."
4. You should probably go look at the Lulu's webstore next time you are fixin' for some lovely goodies.

Okay, on to other business, I did make a tutorial on shredding denim. I feel the need to preface this video with a load of disclaimers. Please note that this video is extremely poorly edited, I have an overly-expressive face, and I talk like a total California Valley Girl. If you can deal with all of those things, then by all means, watch and try to enjoy.

Also, one last note, you should probably start following my friend Nicki's blog now. She only has three posts up, but I can assure you that you are definitely going to want to keep tabs on her.

  3. You wear that dress incredibly well Madeline! It's perfectly badass and feminine at the same time. And as usual I am drooling over your Gypsy clogs. <33

Thanks for the tutorial, I enjoyed watching it! For some reason I always expect bloggers to talk differently than how they look (if that makes any sense) but your voice and manner is actually very you (again, if that makes sense)! Also, I usually use a seam ripper when shredding/distressing stuff. It works pretty well!

  13. Cool! thanks for the DIY, though I'm probably too lazy to do it too but one day I will come across that video again and shred my jeans because of you. :) Yep, like a lot of the comments have said, I expected you to have a different voice, like a deeper voice, but it's all good, I still love the California Valley Girl voice.

Anywho, I love the outfit. If I saw that dress, I would've done the same thing! I still think your tattoos are cool.

  17. Ahh, I'd been so anxious to see your tutorial. :D However I'm endlessly distracted by your tattoos. (I'm hopefully getting one soon, and I'm pretty excited about it, so that's probably why.) Though I'm glad you did denim, becuse I tried getting the same effect in a different way and ended up breaking quite a bit of the white threads in my jacket, so it's a half-distressed hole. Thanks for doing this!

That dress is really amazing, especially with those shoes. Every time you post a new look with those, I become more tempted to buy them!
