This "Choose Your Own Adventure" is due to the fact that I did the photos for my blog post, but then drove by an amazing farm out in the country near Hollister, which compelled my boyfriend to pull over on the side of the road and cajole me into trying not to look awkward while he snapped shots and cars honked at me in my hoochie clothes.
I live in Los Angeles, so farms are a rare thing by which to come. The reason for our proximity to agriculture is this: my boyfriend's grandmother fell into a coma earlier this week (very sad), and we drove to San Jose in the hopes that he would get to spend a little bit of time with her before she passed away. Unfortunately, we did not make it in time, so the trip ended up instead being to attend her memorial. However, this sad occasion was offset by the fact that while we were in town, we managed to make it to one of his cousin's weddings, which was uplifting and joyful, so we left San Jose in relatively high spirits.
That is a very depressing story and not at all really related to fashion, so let's bring it back around. Tragedy of loss aside, I share this with you only so that you have a bit of back-story for why these photos (and another set to follow) are set in the great outdoors as opposed to the traditional alley and brick wall settings. I think that the outdoors provides great context, since this Kelly-Bundy-esque look really has a country bumpkin feel to it.
Also, as you can see, my good friend Abraham popped extensions into my hair. I have not had time to play with them yet, so all I can do is wear them in different braid variations. I'll get the hang of it soon! This was my first attempt at a messy fishtail.
