For life in a pre-No Doubt era, there was no greater fashion icon than Drew Barrymore. She was perhaps the most authentic out of all of the "girl power" figureheads thrown at young girls by the entertainment industry, being just a touch enough Courtney Love and never too much Spice Girls, and had a sense of whimsy about her that was magnetic. Drew Barrymore taught me which shoes looked the funniest with slip dresses, how to make fake flowers stick in my hair, not to take haircuts too seriously, and that there's no shame in gettin' down to your skivvies (or less). Here are some of my favorite shots of the gal herself in the 1990s, when Yours Truly's childhood overlapped.
